Directing is a method of stating people what to do and seeing that they do it in the best manner according to their ability. It comprises overseeing people at work, making provision for necessary facilities and building a work environment whereby employees might carry out to the best of their potentials. Directing is that aspect of management which is concerned all along with instructing, guiding and inspiring the people of company or organization to achieve targets.

It begins integrated action of human force and translates plans to practice and is a pervasive activity of the management. Direction is considered as the spirit of management process as it begins action, integrates staff’s efforts, medium of motivation, provides stability and balance in the organization and facilitates modification.
